[Tension Walking] SONMONGJOO / Museum of Contemporary Art Busan 2022 It is a work titled [Tension Walking], which creates tension and dreams with the composition of rubber bands pulled by my installation work at the Museum of Contemporary Art Busan in 2022. This is a video that converts the original to a metaverse so that you can meet the [Tension Walking] work again. My early work [Line Series] is a work that allows you to touch stretched rubber bands or experience a space full of elasticity that fluctuates and shows infinite continuity, repetition, and layered construction. 부산현대미술관 이 작품을 기억하시나요? 2022년 부산현대미술관 '친숙한 기이한' 기획전에 참여한 저의 설치작품으로 잡아당겨진 고무줄의 구성으로 장력과 몽환을 연출한 [긴장보행] 이라는 제목의 작품입니다. 이는 [긴장보행]작품을 다시 만나볼 수 있도록 원본을 메타버스로 전환한 영상입니다. 저의 초기작 [라인시리즈]는 늘어난 고무줄을 만져보거나 출렁이는 탄성이 가득한 공간을 경험케하고 무한한 연속과 반복, 층층이 쌓인 구축의 단면이 고스란히 드러나는 시간을 보여주는 작품입니다.

[ Drifting ] Drafting Tree, Rubber Band / Hongti Art Center 2014 Artist : SONMONGJOO I worked as a resident artist at the Busan Cultural Foundation's creative space 'Hongti Art Center' from 2014 to 2015. Located in the south of Busan, it was a special place where the greatness of nature where the downstream of the Nakdonggang River meets the sea greatly inspires me. I had the opportunity to change my work from [ Line Series] to [ Floating Series] with the rationality, reflection, and stimulation of life as if it were pushed. [Drifting] 2014, which was produced after seeing a large old tree drifting along the Nakdonggang River at Dadaepo Beach after the typhoon, was announced as such. It is a work that connects the worn traces of nomads with rubber band tension, and the intense space symbolizing tension and conflict has been well received. 작품제목 : 표 - 류- 로 낙동강에 떠내려온 유목, 고무밴드/ 홍티아트센터 2015 작가 : 손 몽 주 부산문화재단의 창작공간 '홍티아트센터' 에서 저는 입주 작가 활동을 2014년~2015년 하였습니다. 부산의 남쪽에 위치한 이곳은 낙동강의 하류가 바다와 만나는 자연의 위대함이 대단히 큰 영감을 주는 특별한 장소였습니다. 떠밀리듯 살아가며 또 이동하고 범람하며... 생명이 떠가는 것에 관한 순리와 성찰, 자극을 받으며 [라인 시리즈]에서 [유목 시리즈]로 작품이 변화하는 계기를 이때 가졌습니다. 태풍이 지난 후 대형 고목이 낙동강을 따라 다대포 해수욕장에 표류된 장면을 보고 제작된 [표-류-로]2014가 그렇게 발표 되었습니다. 유목의 마모된 흔적과 고무줄 장력을 연결된 작품으로 긴장과 갈등이 상징되는 강렬한 공간이 호평을 받았습니다.

Bachelor's house / Busan Biennale Sea Art Festival 2013 Artist : SONMONGJOO Have you been to the Songdo sea in Busan? The current Songdo coastal landscape has changed its impression a lot due to major renovations such as plastic surgery. In the 1980s, when I was born in Songdo and played around, there was a Bachelor's house, Turtle island and Cloud bridge, and a circular cable car in the middle of the beach. This work was made by recalling the architecture called "Bachelorette House," which I wanted to enter while recalling the past of memories. It is a real building with a funny sign that stood tall in the center of the beach, although it is not being demolished now. The Bachelor's house was a friendly scene on the beach like a Songdo keeper that welcomed me first after I jumped from the playground. 총각집 / 손몽주 / 부산비엔날레 바다미술제 2013 부산의 송도 바다를 가보셨나요 ? 지금의 송도 해안가 풍경은 여러 성형수술과 같은 대대적 수선으로 인상이 많이 바뀌었어요. 제가 송도에서 태어나 뛰놀던 1980년대는 해변 중간에 총각집, 거북섬과 구름다리, 원형 케이블카도 있었습니다. 추억의 과거를 떠 올리며 들어가보고 싶었던 총각집 이라는 건축물을 회상하며 만든 작품입니다. 지금은 철거되고 없지만 해변 중앙에 우뚝 서 있던 웃긴 간판의 실제 존재했던 건물입니다. 총각집은 놀이터에서 뛰어내려 온 나를 가장 먼저 반겨주는 송도 지킴이 같은 해변의 정겨운 장면 이었지요.

Asia Carpet Space / 2022 National Asian Cultural Center in Korea Artist : SONMONGJOO The vast square of the National Asian Cultural Center in Korea is painted with colorful colors, and beautiful patterns of West Asian carpets are combined with Son Mong-joo style to be featured in the design. Spectators can come up on carpets to enjoy and relax, and there is also dehydration of swings in mirrors. This cheerful and unique sculpture symbolizes communication, play, and big windows in the square and served as friendly public art. @Commission Production of National Asian Cultural Center Korea 한국 국립아시아문화전당의 드넓은 광장의 회색을 화려한 컬러로 물들이고, 서아시아 카펫의 아름다운 패턴을 손몽주 스타일과 결합해 디자인에 담았습니다. 광주의 가을 축제를 장식하고 관객은 카페트 위로 올라와 즐기고 쉴수 있으며, 거울 속 그네를 탈수도 있습니다. 경쾌하고 독특한 이 조형물은 광장에서의 소통과 유희, 큰 창문을 상징하며 친근한 공공미술의 역할을 하였습니다. @ACC커미션제작

청계천 복원 20주년을 기념하여 "서울에서 만나는 바다"를 떠가는 부표와 스윙으로 은유하였다. 청계천 광교 아래 어둠을 바다 풍경의 빛으로 밝히고, 관객은 실제 그네를 탈수 있는 경험을 체험한다. 2025년 가을 전시 기간 2주간 20만명이 넘는 관람객을 기록하는 인기를 얻었다. 조각과 미디어가 결합된 공공미술의 사례이며 한국국제교류재단커미션으로 원작이 제작되었고, 한국문화예술위원회의 지원으로 디지털 아카이빙 되었다.

Son Mong-joo's masterpiece [Line Series: Tense Walking 2023] - [Floating Series: Pyo-ryu-ro 2014] - [Swing Series: Cheonggye Swing 2025] is a digital archive. With the support of the publication and archive of the ARTS COUNCIL KOREA in 2025, Son Mong-joo's masterpiece was converted into a metaverse and displayed in the project room of Ilmin Art Museum. Son Mong-joo's installation work, which meets in the metaverse, contains the location of the original, but can experience appreciation and immersion beyond the constraints of time and space. 손몽주 작가의 대표작 [라인시리즈: 긴장보행2023] - [유목시리즈: 표-류-로2014] - [스윙시리즈:청계스윙2025]을 디지털 아카이브로 선보이는 영상이다. 2025년 한국문화예술위원회 출판 및 아카이브 지원으로 손몽주 대표 설치작품을 메타버스로 전환하여 2025년 12월 11일 ~ 2026년 1월 10일 일민미술관 3층 프로젝트룸에서 전시되었다. 메타버스에서 만나는 손몽주의 설치작품은 원작의 장소성을 담되 시공간의 제약을 넘어 감상과 몰입의 경험이 가능하다.
